Ep. 119

Welcome to the 2023 Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness Seriespart 11

Bronwyn Davis opens up about the powerful shift in her relationship with her skin after her diagnosis and how she turned her pain into purpose by creating a community of skin cancer survivors. We delve into the importance of developing the 5 C’s in your life, and the incredible impact that a supportive community can have on overall well-being.

For over 20 years, Bronwyn’s passion for coaching has led her to help others transform their lives and achieve greatness, even after a skin cancer diagnosis. Come along on this eye-opening journey, exploring resilience, connection, and the power within each of us to live a fulfilling life.

…Once I did that and started sharing my story and really was surrounded by this safe, beautiful community, I realized that there was a large group of people who were ready to start making their way out of that into how this was going to serve them again. And I created a framework called the “Resilience Roadmap” and it’s broken down into five components that I call the “Five C’s to a Courageous Comeback”...

Bronwyn was inspired to transform her life after being diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. She emphasizes the incredible impact that a supportive community can have on our overall well-being and how it has helped her and others navigate the emotional aspects of living with skin cancer. With over 20 years of coaching experience, Bronwyn’s passion for helping others achieve greatness shines through as she shares her story of resilience, connection, and the power within each of us to live a fulfilling life.

Through her personal journey, Bronwyn has developed the 5 C’s. Be sure to ask yourself the following: Do you have Clarity, Control, Charge, Confidence, Community?

Dealing with the EMOTIONS of CANCER ☀️

  1. Fear -The initial diagnosis of skin cancer can be a scary and overwhelming experience. Fear of the unknown, fear of the treatment process, and fear of the potential outcome can all contribute to a range of emotions.
  1. Anxiety – Anxiety is a common emotion experienced by those with skin cancer. The uncertainty of the future, the possibility of recurrence, and the impact on daily life can all contribute to feelings of anxiety.
  2. Guilt – Some individuals may feel guilty for not taking better care of their skin or for not catching the cancer earlier. This emotion can be especially prevalent in those who have a history of tanning or sunburns.
  3. Anger – Anger can be a natural response to a skin cancer diagnosis. Individuals may feel angry at themselves, at the cancer, or at the healthcare system. This emotion can be difficult to manage and may require support from loved ones or a mental health professional.
  4. Depression – Depression is a common emotion experienced by those with skin cancer. The impact on daily life, the fear of the future, and the physical changes to the body can all contribute to feelings of sadness and hopelessness.
  5. Acceptance – Over time, many individuals with skin cancer may come to a place of acceptance. This does not mean that they are happy about the diagnosis or the treatment process, but rather that they have come to terms with their situation and are ready to move forward.
  6. Gratitude – Some individuals may experience feelings of gratitude after a skin cancer diagnosis. This emotion can come from a newfound appreciation for life, a deeper connection with loved ones, or a sense of purpose in raising awareness about skin cancer.
