Welcome to the 2023 Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness Seriespart 7

Say goodbye to boring sun-protective clothing and hello to UPF 50+ fashion! Learn how this innovative company is making waves in the fashion industry while keeping you safe from harmful UV rays.

UPF 50+ clothing is no longer just for the beach or outdoor activities. It is now being incorporated into everyday fashion trends. Low Ultraviolet is creating stylish pieces that offer sun protection for a more updated look. UPF 50+ clothing is becoming a staple proving that fashion and function can go hand in hand.

Low Ultraviolet™ (L.U.V.) is a lifestyle brand that offers youthful, safe, and fashionable UPF 50+ apparel. The brand was founded by Erica Sullivan Feggeler, who was inspired to create the brand after her mother was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. Erica herself had also experienced skin cancer scares and was shocked to learn that skin cancer was a possibility for young adults. Erica, the CEO of the company and director, Snigdha Sangisetti are committed to raising awareness about safe sun exposure and excited to take L.U.V. into the future to outshine skin cancer.

What a heartwarming conversation. We dive into the alarming statistics of skin cancer and discuss the lack of affordable and stylish sun-protective apparel in the market. Erica and Snigdha share their vision for Low Ultraviolet, focusing on community and trends in fashion to create protective apparel for everyday life. The importance of protecting ourselves in all environments, shows the role of UPF clothing in providing that protection.

one of the statistics that really drives the work that we do, And that is the fact that a whole demographic was being overlooked by the sun protective brands who were on the market before we kind of really entered. We came in saying, you know, there is nothing that is designed for young women specifically. You know, all of the companies are either going towards sports apparel or they’re targeting older women who you know, given that statistic, have already had their first case of skin cancer. So now they’re finding clothing kind of out of a reactive versus proactive mindset. So there was a whole group of women who were maybe wanting to protect their skin, but they were looking online and seeing things that were just not attractive

I was so inspired by Erica and Snigdha and the importance of their community-focused approach, using the platform of education and information to spread awareness and empower people to live their lives on their own terms. They are both filled with passion, determination, and the drive to make a difference in the fight against skin cancer.

With the rise in skin cancer cases in younger women, it’s now more important than ever to learn how to protect yourself. What a beautiful way to do it with a company that understands!
