Into the Headwinds: Fueling your Soul after Cancer

Christie Finley-

Getting a cancer diagnosis is difficult to begin with. Hearing that you have leukemia in your 20’s would be devastating, yet Christie Finley found a way to find hope and fuel her soul while facing this new challenge.

She shares her experience of being diagnosed with AML Leukemia at 28 and how she handled hearing that it was back two more times in a matter of a few years and the emotional roller coaster she was on.

Christie recalls what it was like to live in her new world and to go through treatments, getting a brand new immune system and a bone marrow transplant and how she managed the shift in her life and her thinking.

Join me today as Christie takes you back through her journey from her first diagnosis to being told she was cancer free after the third time. Learn how she sailed into the headwinds and adjusted her course purposefully through life to make forward progress. The impact that it  has made in her life and how she now supports others going through their own difficulties.

“I’ve gained a voice in other aspects of my life that I probably would never have gotten if I hadn’t gotten sick. That is a definitely a great lesson I have learned. You know I didn’t go through all that stuff to not be happy. I have to look out for myself first because you can’t pour from an empty cup. That’s a lesson I think a lot of people don’t fully learn and it’s great to be selfless, but you also have to look out for yourself.”.

Christie’s life has been forever changed, but she has discovered her true purpose and potential because of her Leukemia diagnosis. Going through cancer taught her many lessons. She learned the value of appreciating the simple things and living life to the fullest. Christie shares her experience to reach out to others and make a difference. That her strength is her focus on making deeper connections with people  and not sweating the small stuff.

Starting her blog “Fueling your Soul, ” gave her a place to reflect and share her story. It created a way for her to help others find how to fuel their body, from the inside out through self-care. By understanding your feelings and thoughts and making the transition to a healthier lifestyle. Realizing that taking time to rest & recover in order to be your best and do the things you love is most important. You deserve nothing more than to be happy and live your best life possible.

Christie raised over $350,000 dollars for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in 2 ½ years, and won Woman of the Year for her achievements.
